5. Alien Jerky.

Okay, this is really random. When you drive out to vegas there is a place where you can stop and purchase ‘alien jerky’ which I’ve always dismissed as over-priced regular ol’ beef jerky. and I had never tried it. Ingredients: 3 poultry breasts (I had bone in, skin on ones as well as eliminated the skin – it falls off the bone when done)

1 can cream of mushroom soup ( I requirement to buy stock in this ish)

1/2 c chopped onion

salt, pepper, garlic powder, 21 seasoning salute (or non-salt seasoning of your choice)

Directions: location poultry as well as onions in crockpot. season with S&P, garlic as well as whatever else you want. pour can of soup over chicken, spread. add 1/2 of water. set on low as well as walk away.

Cook for 4-5 hours on low (depending on size of breasts). add broccoli as well as cook for one more hour.

Serve it up!

Since I’m staying in California for Christmas this year I made a decision to start the tradition of making them with my lil mommy and brother (they don’t know they’re helping yet – but it takes a village to make tamales!).

First step: Make the meat that goes inside. בוצע.

While this cooked yesterday I went to my mom’s and hung out with my peeps. We worked in a little walk to justify all the goodies.

And I got into the Christmas spirit by watching home Alone.

My favorite tiny person came over too and I got a peek at the world’s cutest running shoes! (Okay, maybe they’re not so much ‘running’ shoes as ‘stumble around like a small drunk person shoes’ but you know what I mean.)

Now I have to get back to tamale prep. next step: make the masa!

This is going to be a very messy adventure – wish me luck!

`Run eat Repeat Podcast 133. We’re talking about the fun Run Challenge, the London Marathon ‘bubble’ and how that worked and giving much more support to female athletes!

Instead of the typical Running calendar with suggested workouts – I have a fun RUN challenge for you this month! and The London Marathon is the most significant race to actually be held this year. 

But it was very different from any other race we’ve ever seen. Race officials set up a biosphere for the runners and their teams. 

And I’m sharing of the very fun and interesting guidelines and tools they used to keep everyone safe!!

But before we get into that… Let’s warm Up

Fun Run Challenge! I like to share a Running calendar each month to help keep you accountable and motivated to run. but even though we’re talking about a real live race today – I know it’s been very hard to workout and run this year. 

There have been so numerous obstacles that have gotten in the way of our running and fitness goals. I feel like everyone I know has said they’ve gained weight because the start of the pandemic and safer at home orders. 

And it’s strange but I feel like I’m much more discouraged when I feel like I’ve gained weight. I wish I was much more determined! 

So instead of the typical running workout calendar – the October calendar is a fun Run Challenge! There are 31 days of ideas and inspiration to help you have fun on the run. 

I really believe running is one of the best ways to get fit. and I really believe it can be fun!

London Marathon Bubble fun Facts and supporting female Athletes
Before athletes & any of their team members traveled to London they were evaluated for Covid.

Then, they were evaluated again upon arrival.

And even though it’s far from the norm pre-race prep… that’s not

And that’s when it got interesting…

All the athletes and their team members stayed in an undisclosed location where they eat, slept and trained. They weren’t allowed to go much more than a certain # of yards away from the location.

Molly Seidel on the London Marathon… “It’s very fancy. האוכל נהדר. It’s wild.”

Within the bubble social distancing they are all required to wear ‘beepers’ that make a noise if you get within 6 feet of anybody else. 

The ‘beepers’ are small and attached to a necklace. everyone has to wear it anytime they leave their hotel room. The system doesn’t track where they’re going, just goes off when one beeper is too close to another.

From Runner’s world – details on the London Marathon bubble:

Details of the meet hotel were kept secret all week, with athletes cautioned not to identify their location online. (And they weren’t kidding—Seidel posted an Instagram of herself training on the grounds, but was asked to take it down.) set on 40 acres of land, the hotel grounds offered enough room for runners to log their final sessions, while wheelchair racers trained on stationary rollers in their bedrooms.

At many events, athletes share a twin room, but this time everyone had their own place to sleep. Masks were mandatory whatsoever times around the hotel except while training or eating, and athletes were given bump technology pendants to wear around their necks, which made a beeping noise if they got too close to one another.

From the UK Telegraph – on the winners:

Eliud Kipchoge’s reign as the king of the London Marathon concerned a shock end as Shura Kitata emerged from the rain and the gloom to become the new champion.

In a spectacular upset Kipchoge, who had won all of his previous four London Marathons and had not lost over the distance in seven years, dropped alarmingly off the pace around the 22-mile mark.

The 35-year-old world record holder had no answer as a seven-strong lead group edged away from him, and he ended up finishing down in eighth. He revealed after the race that he had suffered with a blocked best ear with 15km remaining. 

But despite the slow pace he came up short and Kitata took full advantage, as Kipchoge was beaten for the first time because he came second in Berlin in 2013.

Sara Hall (USA) 02:22.01

Ruth Chepngetich (KEN) 02:22.05

Hall’s second place implies she is the first American to finish on the podium of the London Marathon since  Deena Kastor won the race in 2006. 

Just a reminder, she will not be representing her country at next year’s Olympics in Tokyo (if they go ahead) as she didn’t finish in the top three at the trials earlier this year.

Heather McDonald Podcast interview with Caitlin Jenner – I don’t view keeping up with the Kardashians because I don’t have E! (the channel their show is on). but I do like to keep up with them by listening to podcasts with episode recaps. 

I didn’t very closely follow everything that happened with Caitlin Jenner and her transition either. but I thought it’d be a good listen while running – it was. 

I think Heather McDonald was such a good person to interview her because they’ve known each other for years, but aren’t really close friends. So it was a good mix of familiar without it being all inside jokes or bubble gum level. It’s not crazy juicy, but it’s interesting and it made me appreciate Caitlin more. I’m thinking about listening to her book now.

Our flight from SFO back to Orange region was at 5pm as well as we got to the flight terminal to return the rental cars and truck at 4:16pm. We understood there was no method we were going to make the flight so we hurried, however didn’t run.

The flight was only 1 hour as well as 20 minutes so it flew by. <- get it? I bet part of the reason they waited for us is since there were only 40 people on the flight! I started to checked out Barefoot Running (the publisher sent it to me a long time ago). I got barefoot style shoes at Christmas as well as haven’t dedicated to them just yet. Hopefully, I begin utilizing them a lot more soon! Ben explained that it appears like this person is heel striking though… We parked at a hotel across the street from John Wayne as well as made a decision we didn’t want to wait on the shuttle. So we ran across the street with all our stuff in a totally legal fashion There is no food in the home so Ben grabbed Carl’s Jr. as well as I made this frozen meal the business sent me to try. This morning I ran 5 miles as well as came house to a tasty egg sandwich. I’ve been believing about this sandwich all weekend. Is that weird? Don’t response that. Other business: I’m still having a hard time with my thyroid meds, however am loving the natural supplements. We’ll go over soon. however if you have a low T-3 thyroid as well as have it regulated can you email me the meds you’re on? Randomly took some candy with me for fuel.

The great news is to comprise for a shorter run, I ate a lot.

My rest Day morning routine

Here’s my rest Day morning Routine. “Rest Day” means different things to different people (and different runners). What I do on a rest day depends on whether or not I’m training for a marathon / half marathon and how challenging that training plan is.

Lately I’ve been running 5 days per week, which means I take 2 days ‘rest’ from running. one of those days I’ll do strength training and the other day I try to take completely off from working out. I usually use my complete rest day to clean and do laundry since I have extra energy to shake off.

Yesterday I documented my lil morning routine with some short video clips to share it with you in under 30 seconds. You can watch it on Instagram @RunEatRepeat or on TikTok @RunEatRepeat

My rest Day morning Routine

I woke up way too early, but couldn’t go back to sleep so I decided to just start the day early. first things first – coffee.

Coffee with collagen powder and creamer. I usually drink iced coffee, but lately when I brew a fresh pot I pour myself a cup of hot coffee and drink it until it cools off. I like my hot beverages hot so it gets too cold for me fast and I pout it over ice.

Refilled my supplement organizer. I know it’s ridiculous. I use a 4x per day supplement container and it has a holder for the week. I space out my vitamins and supplements to help absorb them.

I usually meal prep on Sundays and started with a big batch of hard boiled eggs.

Breakfast was grated hardboiled eggs smashed with avocado and toast with PB&J.

Diego and I took a nice lil walk for some light movement. Again, I don’t run or workout in any official capacity on my complete rest day. but Diego needs to take a walk and usually invites me to go with him.

I washed clothes the day before and folded them when I got back from our walk. I also organized my running clothes into outfits so it’s easy to grab and go for my morning run. *I share how to Make fast Running outfits on this post*

Then, I planned out my runs and workouts for the week.

RUNNING TIP: check the weather for the week when planning your training schedule and if possible work around extreme weather conditions (or plan to run on a treadmill). This way the weather won’t stop you from doing your best on key run days.

I did a slow 10 miler to start the day. I just wanted to go kinda long today. Mid-run stop and walk for a few text messages and voice mails. It was great to have a walking break in the middle.

And when I got back I had something I’ve been craving = turkey sausage. I am very random in my cravings. 92% of the time it’s something sweet, but every now and then when I’m craving salty food I cannot stop until I have it (I think that’s because I eat sweet stuff so often my body knows it’ll only be 12 minutes until it gets sugar again).

Yesterday I went to the store specifically for seltzer and turkey sausage. This epic breakfast sandwich was the result:

Instead of butter or mayo I used my new greek yogurt dip and it was perfection.

Skinny Gut utmost Shake

A few weeks ago a rep from the skinny Gut diet sent me their new Renew Life skinny Gut utmost Shakes to try. The container comes with some recipes, but I made a decision to create my own considering that I have so lots of apples to eat!

Mid-morning I made a smoothie with: Almond milk, skinny Gut Shake mix, 1 chopped apple, 1 packet stevia and ice.

For some reason when I eat apples by themselves I am hungrier after?! Luckily, putting it in the shake mix kept me full a lot longer. That’s probably because the mix has both protein and fiber.

The shake mix is vegan, gluten-free, non GMO and has vitamins and anti-oxidants.* It also has no added sugar – which is why I added a packet of stevia. It wasn’t sweet enough for me, but I’m used to incredibly sweet protein smoothies. They come in Renew Life skinny Gut Vanilla Shake or Renew Life skinny Gut chocolate Shake. I have only tried the vanilla.

Overall: I liked it but would probably mix it with sweeter fruit next time like pineapple or banana.

And now vegas and I are going to kick back and check Instagram… (I wrote this post before he got sick. I’ll update the 2 of you that care if he dies on his health status as soon as the vet calls with test results.)

Most of the time I go chocolate, but I like to mix vanilla with fruit.
